The De Beers Group Institute of Diamonds has partnered with Christie’s auction house to showcase a new, exclusive, collaborative exhibition called ‘Rare Treasures of the Earth.’ Scheduled to open at Christie’s in London, industry professionals, collectors and the press will be invited to discover a selection of remarkable colored diamonds, rocks and minerals at the exhibit. Every rare diamond, gemstone and mineral in the show will be available for immediate purchase.
A series of interactive and hands-on demos will be presented to private consumers and independent retailers in an effort to provide insights into the complex stages of testing and grading rare and fancy colored diamonds.
Representatives of De Beers Group Institute of Diamonds will bring the expertise of more than 130 years of diamond grading to the exhibition, and these experts have graded most of the diamonds in the ‘Rare Treasures of the Earth’ show, including high quality red, purple, blue and pink diamonds of rare size.
Leading the exhibition will be the “Cullinan Dream,” a rectangular, 24.18ct. intense blue VS2 diamond which was drawn from the renowned Cullinan mine of South Africa. Other stones in the show include a 2.01ct. vivid pink-purple diamond, a fancy 1.09ct. purple-red stone, and a 1.42ct. vivid blue-green diamond.
The ‘Rare Treasures of the Earth’ exhibition is curated by the Christie’s Jewelry Private Sales and Natural History departments and will take place from Nov. 8 through 12, 2019.
